Gafuik, Canada’s male gymnast, qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics. His preparations for the Games were hampered by a thumb injury that required surgery.

Gafuik did not participate in any of the apparatus qualifiers and instead focused on his favourite event, the high bar. His score of 13.866 due to a fall from bar was not sufficient to get him into the final.

He was a competitor at the 2008 Summer Olympics and finished 17th in the men’s all round, which is the second-best performance by a Canadian gymnast.
