New book lifts lid on The Who's John Entwistle and his Gloucestershire party mansion
A new book about the The Who’s John Entwistle has lifted the lid on the wild parties he held behind the doors of his grand Cotswold mansion.
According to the book Entwistle’s partner would invite crowds of local people back to his country pile and they would party until the bar practically ran dry.
And once inside Cotswold pub-goers could find themselves rubbing shoulders with the likes of actor John Hurt and his American wife Donna who were said to be regular visitors to Quarwood.
The late Who bassist Entwistle bought the 40 acre country estate near Stow-on-the Wold for £150,000 in 1976 when he was still living with his first wife Alison nee Wise who dreamed of owning a small Cotswold cottage as a holiday home..
According to the book he decided to make it their permanent base and went on a spending spree in Harrods to fill the mansion with curiosities such as a medieval suit of armour name
